My name is Yanick Vallée. I currently live in Montreal (Canada) and I was born in a small town along the Saint-Lawrence River.
I worked as an IT Consultant for many years. As a consultant, I get to work on assignments for Canadian Government departments like Environment Canada, Transport Canada, Elections Canada and others. As well, I have worked for public companies like Nortel Networks and JDS Uniphase.
My photography work is really a hobby that became a side job, which I do for fun because I love doing it...My interest in photography started when I was about 11 years old, once I could get a hand on my Dad's new 35 mm Minolta SLR. Back then and until fairly recently, I had been photographing mostly nature and landscapes, but I tried my hand at wedding and portrait photography, and that's when I realized that I really enjoyed pretty much all genres of photography.
I'm a fairly active person and I love extreme sports...watching or playing hockey is not my cup of tea. I love mountain biking, and when the wind is favorable, I sometimes hit the water, windsurfing. I also loved surfing back in Australia, too bad we can't surf around here. I enjoyed it very much.
I love traveling; the most important trip of my life was definitely when I spent 3 months in Australia back in 1997. This trip has been a turning point in my life and has really opened my eyes to what's out there. You will find on this site, many images that I took during that trip.
That’s it, I think this summarizes who I am pretty well…and I hope you enjoy my work.
Cheers!
Yanick
